Getting to Dublin

Dublin Airport is served by 43 airlines with direct scheduled services to 110 destinations. Particularly well served are almost every European city, and major North American centres. Most European destinations are within two hours’ flying time of Dublin.

All you need to know about travelling to and from Dublin Airport is available at www.dublinairport.com. The airport is conveniently located approximately 10 km north of Dublin city centre. It is served by a large number of buses, coaches and taxis all allowing you to get to and from the airport with ease. Aircoach, a privately run bus service, operates between the airport and a number of city hotels and locations: www.aircoach.ie Airlink (bus 747), operated by Dublin Bus, will bring you directly from the airport to Busaras, the central bus station, located in the city. www.dublinbus.ie

It is also possible to get to Dublin by ferry via Holyhead, Liverpool and Isle of Man ports in Britain. Dublin has two ferry terminals – Dublin Port, located in the city centre, is serviced by bus and Dun Laoghaire Ferry Terminal, south of the city, is easily reached, by bus or DART (Dublin Area Rapid Transit) train journey.

An extensive public transport network serves Dublin. This includes intercity trains, the DART, Dublin Bus services and a light rail network (LUAS). Airlink is an express service to and from Dublin Airport and Aircoach is a privately-run 24-hour dedicated bus service connecting a number of city centre hotels and locations with Dublin Airport.
Travelling to the Conference

Dublin is served by Dublin International Airport, which is located north of Dublin City Centre. There are frequent connecting buses from the airport to the city centre, including a special shuttle service, Airlink which brings passengers directly to Busáras (Central Bus Station, Dublin).

There are usually an adequate number of taxis in operation in the city centre at any given time. It is possible to hail a taxi from the street, but convenient taxi ranks are located on O’Connell Street, Middle Abbey Street, Dame Street and St. Stephens Green.
Please note that parking in and around Trinity College campus is extremely limited, so we would encourage you to use public transport where possible.

Bus

Bus Éireann provides a nationwide bus service, with most major areas having a regular link to Dublin. The majority of Dublin services terminate in Busáras (Central Bus Station, Dublin) from where it is a short walk to Trinity College Dublin.

Rail
Dublin is served by two main railway stations: Connolly Station and Heuston Stations. It is a short walk from Connolly Station to O’Connell Street, and on to Trinity College arts block. For further information please visit Iarnród Eireann (Irish Rail)

Visas and Passports
All nationalities visiting Ireland require valid passports. Visas are not currently required of EU nationals, EFTA nationals, or USA, Canadian or Australian nationals. Information on nationalities requiring a visa may be obtained from any Irish Embassy or Consulate or Irish Tourist Office and online HERE.
Please note that it can take 6 to 8 weeks to process a Visa Application and early application is recommended. Please also note that the Irish Organising Committee, or its agents, cannot accept any responsibility in connection with Visa Applications and the normal cancellation policy, for registration fees and hotel deposits, will apply in the event that a delegate is unable to attend the convention due to late submission of their visa application and/or rejection of same.
